FLIGHT INSTRUCTOR - INSTRUMENT COURSE

  1. The cost varies with aircraft used, fuel costs, and the aeronautical experience of the learner.
     
  2. This course is designed to prepare the learner to become a Flight Instructor-Instrument. A current instrument rating and flight instructor certificate-airplane is required to start this course. Those who do not have these certificates should call for information on the training required. All requirements of the instrument pilot must be accomplished and mastered from the right seat. The ability to teach, analyze, demonstrate and evaluate a student's flying is required prior to the check ride..
     
  3. The following is a sample of the estimated course costs:
    a. Instrument Flight Instructor: Self study and 3 review sessions of 2 hours each.
    b. FAA written test (Flight Instructor, Instrument)
    c. Text Books: Gleim: Instrument pilot FAA Written Examination & Instrument.  Additional recommended reference books:  FAA regulations, AIM, Practical Test Standards, Flight Instructor books by Trevor Thom, William K. Kershner & others.  Price Varies.
    d. 5 hour rental Cessna 172P
    e. 5 hours Flight Instruction
    f. Ground Preparation for Check Ride (3 hours)
